TALO Welcomes Amendments to Government's Planning Bill

TALO welcome's the amendments to the Government's Planning and Infrastructure Bill

TALO has welcomed the Government’s latest amendments announced for the Planning and Infrastructure Bill that are designed to ‘unshackle’ the UK from planning delays and speed up the delivery of new homes and much needed infrastructure projects to support that delivery.

These reforms are critical to helping to the tackle planning crisis and unlock more development sites for urgently-needed housing across the country.

We have shown what’s possible – ultra-low energy homes that are:

  • Watertight in one week
  • Designed to exceed Passivhaus standards at no cost premium
  • Higher quality – factory-fitted triple glazing, insulation, plaster board and cladding
  • Built in less time for faster ROI to enable housebuilders to deliver more homes.

According to Dr Anthony Greer, TALO's Executive Director for Corporate Strategy:

"It’s time to back innovation, collaboration, and housebuilders who are ready to deliver. These latest amendments to the Planning Bill are an important step towards tackling the gridlock that’s holding back much-needed housing delivery and the infrastructure to support it.

As someone deeply involved in helping housebuilders and residential property developers bring forward new housing schemes, I welcome these reforms.

A faster and more efficient planning system – combined with proven offsite housebuilding technology – will make a genuine difference to how quickly and efficiently we can deliver ultra-low energy homes for everyone."

Removing the planning blockers and using offsite technology widely proven in the Nordics, are exactly the solutions needed to meet the UK’s housing and climate goals - allowing more families to benefit from comfortable, low-energy homes sooner.
